Episode 1

In this week’s episode of The Gardener & Friends, Tanya breathes new life into a border with vibrant summer annuals. Episode 2

In this week’s episode of The Gardener & Friends, Tanya gets hands-on with a colourful DIY project, while we draw inspiration from a layered garden full of clever ideas. Phindile explores shelf-ready indoor plants, and XO shares simple, practical tips for growing your own delicious vegetables. 

Episode 3

In this week’s episode of The Gardener & Friends, we take a closer look at hedges and how you can be sure yours is looking sharp. Tanya gets creative with a colourful cement mould that will add interest to any garden. We visit the Prince Albert Open Gardens and find inspiration in some of the karoo gardens on display. Phindile discusses some pet friendly options for you to consider, and Tanya shows you how to get the most out of your large shrubs to ensure lush and healthy growth.  

Episode 4

In this week’s episode, Tanya discusses the shaping of plants and how you too can enjoy structure through this eye-catching landscape feature. The subtle sound of a wind chime can add another layer to your gardening enjoyment, and making your own is easier than you might think. We explore more of the Prince Albert Open Gardens where design and striking plants will inspire you. If your lawn is getting the better of you, then we share some ways to take the pain out of maintenance and weeding. XO shares three must have herbs and shows how you too can have success with them. Competition Terms & Conditions 2025

  1. The competition runs from Monday 6 October to Sunday 30 November 2025.
  2. The closing date for the competition is binding and no late entries will be considered.
  3. Winners will be drawn weekly for the duration of the competition period.
  4. Entrants may enter as many times as they wish.
  5. To enter, sms the keyword STIHL to 41703.

  7. Free smses do not apply.
  8. The competition shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of South Africa.
  9. The competition is limited to South African citizens and is open to all, except employees, directors, members, partners, agents, suppliers and/or consultants and their immediate family members, business partners or associates of the relevant company, its associated companies and all participating parties and retail outlets.
  10. Any person who has not yet attained the age of majority should be duly assisted by a parent or legal guardian in entering the competition and/or using any prize.
  11. If the selected winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible or fails to timeously (1 month from the date of announcement) claim a prize, the prize may be forfeited at the discretion of the judges and an alternative winner may be selected.
  12. The prizes are not transferable and may not be exchanged for cash or any other goods.
  13. Prizes may differ from the prizes advertised.
  14. The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
  15. The winners will be notified telephonically.
  16. Winners’ names may be publicly announced and by accepting and/or using a prize, winners agree to the use of their names, photographs, voices and/or likenesses for the purpose of advertising, trade or promotion without further compensation.
  17. The promoters reserve the right to amend, modify or change these rules without notice, at any time during the competition.
  18. Participation in this competition constitutes acceptance of these rules.
  19. By entering into this competition, all entrants and winners agree to indemnify the sponsor and the channel, its associated companies, all participating retail outlet and employees, directors, members, partners, agents, suppliers and/or consultants of the company, its associated companies and all participating retail outlets against any costs, damages, liability, penalties or claims of any nature whatsoever arising out of, and their participation in the competition, its associated companies and all participating retail outlets.
  20. The winners agree to use and accept the prize at their own risk.
  21. If required by the Minister for Trade and Industry, the Lotteries Board or for any other reason whatsoever, the client will be entitled to terminate the competition immediately without notice to entrants. In such an event all entrants hereby waive any rights which they may have against the sponsor/client and acknowledge that they will have no recourse or claim of any nature whatsoever against the sponsor/client, its associated companies, all participating retail outlets, and/or directors, members, partners, employees, agents, suppliers, consultants, subsidiaries, its associated companies and/or the participating retail outlets.
  22. Winners may be required to sign and return a release of liability, declaration of eligibility and a publicity consent agreement, when accepting the prize.
  23. Prizes are not exchangeable for another model/colour.
  24. Prizes will be delivered to a Stihl agent closest to your location for collection. No prizes will be delivered door to door.
