Repurposing Logs to Create a Beautiful Indoor Garden

If you have considered the idea of creating a colourful indoor garden, then you have come to the right place. We will explore how to repurpose logs into flowerpots, featuring plants such as Freesias and bromeliads to enhance your indoor space.

Breathe Life into Your Logs by Repurposing Them for an Indoor Garden

With this guide, add a touch of nature to your indoor living space by bringing the outdoors inside. Use hollow logs as pot plants to house vibrant flowers such as freesias and bromeliads to create your small indoor garden.

What You’ll Need:

Freesias, Guzmania, and bromeliads
Air plants, coir, old man’s beard and sphagnum Moss
Ties, scissors, secateurs and a pantyhose
Fairy lights
A glue gun
A piece of wood

Instructions:

Step 1:
Examine your chosen log, focusing on crevices that will hold soil for the plants. Most of these plants are epiphytes, meaning they don’t necessarily need soil to thrive. The organic features of each log will keep the natural feel of your indoor garden.

Step 2:
Start with freesias, preparing the log by adding coir for cushioning. Insert the plant into the log, securing it with pantyhose if needed. Repeat the process for guzmania and bromeliads, ensuring each finds its snug spot on the log.

Step 3:
Utilize different techniques, like cocooning, to plant in areas with minimal support. If there is additional space in your log, you can add splenriet for a touch of elegance.

Step 4:
Enhance your creation with air plants, using a glue gun for secure attachment. Put A blob of glue onto your piece of wood, then dab the roots of your plant onto the glue and stick it onto a part of the log. To hide the stocking, that’s draped over the log, put a line of your hot glue onto the stocking, and place your flowers over that glue. Add moss and old man’s beard for texture and balance. Place fairy lights around the log for that extra touch of magic.

Step 5:
Spritz the root zones once or twice a week to keep your plants thriving. Use a leaf shine to remove any dust from your plants, allowing your indoor garden to breathe.

Now your living space has been turned into a vibrant area! Remember to regularly maintain your plants to ensure that they remain healthy and keep their vibrancy. You and your family and friends can enjoy the health (and aesthetic) benefits of having an indoor garden.
