Episode 13
In this episode, Tanya explores a beautiful park-like garden that was developed from scratch on a building site. This garden demonstrates how you can create interest in a large garden space by creating different focal points and features. Then, Tanya shows you a few tricks to creating a great garden when you haven’t got all the space in the world, whether you live in a Townhouse, or just have an awkward space that needs something special.

We visit a formal courtyard garden which is a brilliant example of how effectively you can extend the design of Garden the interior of a home right through into the garden. Using interesting features and extending the garden with strategically placed mirrors, this space is a true delight. Tanya then gives you the 4-1-1 on how you can turn paving into a feature in itself by planting various groundcovers and perennials in between the pavers.

Tanya visits passionate gardener Sharon Goss to find out about her love of gardening and we take a look around the garden to see how she’s used the natural water to her advantage. Then, learn all about planting bulbs, from planting them directly into the garden to creating potted bulb features.
Episode 10
In this episode we visit a historic rose garden in Pietermaritzburg that was the creation and passion of an eccentric gardener for many years. Based on the gardens at Sissinghurst in the UK, the design features formal hedges, hidden treasures and some truly interesting plant varieties. Then, taking inspiration from the perfectly clipped topiaries, Tanya heads off to a grower to show you the process of creating topiaries right from slips to the final, trimmed product.

We visit a garden that makes excellent use of indigenous planting but in a traditional, formal garden setting. The design also features an innovative herb and vegetable garden which Tanya uses as inspiration to create her own raised herb garden.

Tanya visits an extraordinary, contemporary rooftop garden on the Umhlanga beachfront and speaks to the designer about the challenges of creating such a garden. We then get the 411 on keeping your containers looking their best, from updating existing potted features to re-potting pot bound plants with a few exciting container ideas thrown in for good measure.

This is a great example of how to create a natural garden space which blends into the surrounding vegetation.
