Vertical Multi-Pot Planter
What you will need:
- Safety gloves & glasses
- Polystyrene board (1.2m x 1.2m)
- Roofing square
- Jigsaw
- Angle grinder
- PVC pipe (110mm)
- Pencil
- Bucket
- Steel trowel
- Block brush
- Straight edge
- X2 buckets of riversand
- X1 bucket of stone
- X1 bucket of cement
- Water
What to do:
To make the smaller sides without holes
- Use a roofing square to draw a rectangular (500 x850 mm) on the polystyrene board. Then using a serrated knife and jigsaw to cut the shape out of the poly board. (you will need 2 of these)
- Mix 2 buckets of riversand, 1 bucket of stone and 1 bucket of cement with enough water to form a runny mixture.
- Pour in the mixed concrete into the polystyrene moulds; spread the mixture using the trowel. Fill the cavity up to the top, use a straight edge to level the top and smooth it down with a steel trowel. To finish it off – use a block brush to create the rugged look. Leave it to dry for a period of 5 days
To make the sides with the holes: (you will need 2 of those)
- Use a roofing square to draw a rectangular (500 x950 mm) on the polystyrene board. Then using a serrated knife and jigsaw-cut the shape out of the board. (you will need 2 of these)
- Add the desired number PVC pipes pieces cut at a 30 degree angle- making sure that they are not too close to the edges
- Mix 2 buckets of riversand, 1 bucket of stone and 1 bucket of cement with enough water to form a runny mixture.
- Pour in the concrete making sure that you keep the pvc pipe holes empty. Once you have filled the cavity up to the top use trowel to level it up.
- Then use the block brush to finish the top and leave it to dry for 5 days.
- Remove the dried concrete panels from the polystyrene mould and assemble the planter by putting all the sides to form a rectangle making sure all sides fit flush together.
