Tempeh Burger

 

Ingredients

  • 1 tempeh burger or buy a block
  • 3 tbls tamari or shoyu (Japanese soy sauce)
  • 1 onion, sliced, bbq’d or caramelised in olive oil
  • 1 spelt sourdough burger bun
  • 1 tbls soy mayo
  • 1/3 cup each of grated beetroot and carrot
  • 1/2 avocado
  • A few mixed leaves

Method

  1. Marinate the burger in the soy sauce whilst you prepare the rest. (If you’ve bought a block of tempeh, then cut a piece to fit your burger and slice in half to make thinner).
  2. Next caramelise your onions, and grate the veggies.
  3. Now either grill, bbq, chargrill or pan fry the tempeh.
  4. Whilst that’s happening toast your bun (nice on the chargriller).
  5. Put some mayo on the bun and then top the burger with the other ingredients the same as you would any burger.
