Sesame Bagels

Quick and easy bagels

  • 6 Cups White Bread Flour
  • 2,25 Cups of Lukewarm water
  • 2 tbsp Golden Syrup
  • 10g Salt
  • 7g Dried Yeast

  1. Add yeast to water and let stand for a few minutes
  2. Combine all the other ingredients, mix in the yeast water and knead for 10 minutes
  3. Prove the dough for 40 minutes in a warm room (the dough should be quite dry)
  4. Divide the dough into 6-10 buns (depending on desired size)
  5. Make a hole in the middle of each bun to form a ring
  6. Let the rings rest for 5 minutes
  7. Stretch the dough rings slightly before adding to a pot of rapidly boiling water. Boil for 1-2 minutes. If the bagels do not float, it might mean that they need more proving.
  8. Optional: While damp and before baking, add sesame seeds
  9. Bake your bagels at 220°C for 20 minutes until golden brown
