Key Holder Project

Quilled Flowers on Wooden Key Holder

Requirements

  • Slotted quilling tool
  • Fast drying glue
  • K-Craft quilling board
  • 5 strips of 5mm quilling paper for each flower in 3 shades of blue.
  • 10 strips of 3mm quilling paper in dark blue
  • 3 x 5 cm length of yellow paper for centre.
  • A wooden key holder with a recessed frame.

Instructions

  • Step 1:Paint your wooden blank key holder in a light blue wash.
  • Step 2:Insert the tip of the yellow paper strip into the slotted tool and roll into a tight ball and gluethe end piece in place.This is the centre coil.
  • Step 3:Similarly, roll the full length of the blue paper into coils and remove from the slotted tool. Place the coil in the 20mm circle on the quilling board and allow the coil to relax until it fills the size. Removethe coilfrom the circle sizer and glue the end of the coil.
  • Step 4:Pinch on one side. A tear drop shape should form with the folds of paper leaning to one side. This is the petal. Join the 6 petals to the center coil.
  • Step 5:When the flowers are complete, start placing them in the recessed space.
  • Step 6:Make additional coils of paper out of the 3mm wide paper by coiling the paper and releasing it without gluing the coil. Fill in the remaining spaces around the flowers with these coils.

Requirements

  • Slotted quilling tool
  • Fast drying glue
  • 5 strips of 5mm wide quilling paper for each flower. 20cm in length. Choose 4 different colours in co-ordinated lengths.
  • 4 x 5 mm wide strips of yellow paper for centre. 5 cm in length.
  • 4 squares of card – watermelon red
  • 4 squares of card with scalloped edges – white

Instructions

  • Step 1:Roll youryellow paper into a tight ball and glue
  • Step 2:Roll the 20cm lengths of paper around the back end of your quilling tool and put a drop of glue on the end of the coil.
  • Step 3:Remove the rolled paperfrom the end of the tool gently,pinch on one side to form a tear drop shape.
  • Step 4:Join the 6 petals to the center coil with little dots of glue.
  • Step 5:Glue the flowers to the white card and then glue these to the Watermelon red card.
  • Step 6:Arrange your cards with the flowers on the canvas, evenly spaced out.
