Honey Glazed Fried Manchego Cheese

Yield: 5 servings


  • 1/2 pound Manchego cheese, cut in 1 1/2 inch cubes   (1 kg)                                              
  • 1 cup flour (250 ml)
  • 1 egg, lightly whisked
  • 1 cup Panko bread crumbs (250 ml)
  • canola oil, for deep-frying
  • A drizzle of honey
  • A sprinkle of smoked paprika


  1. Cut Manchego into 1  1/2 inch cubes (3.8 cm).
  2. Place cubes into flour, egg, then Panko crumbs.
  3. Preheat a deep-fat fryer to 190C/375F or ( If you haven’t got a deep fryer, fill a large saucepan one third with vegetable oil and heat.)
  4. Coat the cheese cubes in the flour, then egg, then Panko crumbs, then deep-fry until crisp and golden.
  5. Drizzle honey over and dust with the paprika.
