Storage Seat

The Get It Done team build a seat that doubles as a mobile storage unit. They also chat to an upholstery expert on how best to tackle the upholstery work.

What you will need

Tools Material list
JigSaw 16mm Supa wood
Router Top, Middle and bottom shelf – 600 x 600mm – 3 pieces
PEX 300 sander (New one) Slats/dividers 180 x 300mm – 6 pieces
PTK Tacker wood filler
PSR 1080 Cordless drill driver (New one) 3 x 30mm chipboard screws
PFS Spray Gun  4 x 12mm screws
  50 mm wheels – 4 pieces
  Material (enough to cover 600 x 600 mm top)
  Sponge to fit 600 x 600 mm top
  Décor nail strip (These are a strip of the round head nails. I have seen them at various materila shops and also kitchen/cupboard fitting shops)
  all purppose undercoat (waterbased)
  Waterbased paint (colour to match material)
  Wood glue
  Drop sheets – big one

What to do:

  1. Cut out Base, middle and top. (we will show them two ways , with Jigsaw and router)
  2. Measure and mark out where dividers fit
  3. Rout edges
  4. Sand all parts
  5. Assemble
  6. Paint
  7. Upholstery top/seat – expert advises how to do it.
  8. Attach wheels
