Bread and butter pudding

  • 8 Slices of Bread
  • 150 g Sultana and Raisins (75g + 75g each)
  • ½ Jar of Strawberry or Raspberry Jam
  • 200 g butter / spread
  • 250 ml Milk
  • 2 – 3 Eggs
  • Sugar (to sprinkle on top)
  • Custard for serving

  1. Preheat the oven to 180oC
  2. Use elegant lazy tea cups for a stylish individual portion
  3. Cut the slices of bread into half – creating triangle pieces
  4. Take four half slices of bread, and butter each on both sides – place them in the tea cup – with the corners pointing up
  5. Add your Raisins and Sultanas – simply sprinkle them on top of the bread – making an even layer
  6. Add a spoon or two of Strawberry or Raspberry Jam over the raisins and bread
  7. Put milk into a mixing bowl and whisk in the eggs
  8. When this becomes an almost-cream like colour (or just white with yellow parts) pour the mixture on top of the bread until it has absorbed
  9. Bake in the pre-heated oven for about 20 – 30 minutes
  10. Garnish with some fresh custard and some strawberries or raspberries
